Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) Managed Lanes and Airport Transit Planning Services, September 2018 – June 2019.
As part of a team, Modern Mobility Partnersassisted with determining the impacts of managed lanes on SRTA’s Xpress commuter bus service, as well as the feasibility of extending Xpress commuter bus service south to the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA). Specifically, Modern Mobility Partners:
- Reviewed the impacts of SRTA’s existing Xpress service and forecasted travel time changes for existing routes once transit service utilizes the managed lane facilities. Travel time savings were estimated at a route level using the existing transit service travel time and forecasted managed lane speed/travel time provided by SRTA.
- Assisted with identification of opportunities for expansion by extracting transit ridership data and origin-destination patterns for the Xpress Service based on the trip tables from the Atlanta Regional Commission’s (ARC) activity-based model (ABM)and assisting in developing/deriving applicable metrics from the data.
- Assisted in the review of opportunities with respect to planned access as the existing and planned Xpress routes will be impacted.
- Related to the expansion of Xpress commuter bus service to the airport, Modern Mobility Partners extracted information from the ARC’s ABM to get a better understanding of overall travel demand for airport travelers, as well as daily commuters who travel to the airport for work for the horizon year of 2040. Based on overall travel demand and the propensity of using transit, Modern Mobility Partners estimated ridership potential.
