Sihan is a highly skilled GIS analyst and developer with an education background in Cartography, Spatial Analytics, and Computer Science. She is proficient in Python, R, JavaScript, and ArcGIS products to develop innovative planning solutions and applications. She believes that a clear visualization of the back-end spatial data analysis can significantly help the public audiences understand how urban planners improve their communities.

Before joining MMP, Sihan has gained diverse experience through various internships and capstone projects. When she was an undergraduate, she worked with the Sea Grant Institute, Wisconsin State Cartographer’s Office, and Robinson Map Library in making map atlas and story maps for local governments and organizations. During her graduate studies, Sihan was involved in a Vision Zero project with City of Houston Department of Public Works to support the road safety. She developed a dynamic map application, visualizing the historic crash data and roads with potential high crash risk from the machine learning analysis in space-time series. After graduation, she worked as a summer intern at Esri, designed a GIS workflow to optimize the green infrastructure planning in the City of Atlanta. These experiences strengthened her goals in using data-driven methods to promote more equitable and sustainable “smart cities”.
